Best time to send emails

When is the best time to send an email? After items left in cart? Regular email marketing?

This is a great question, and my first instinct is to say yes, all of the above! But here’s a more nuanced answer:

The best time to send an email is going to be a combination of when your customers are most likely to open your email, click on it, and buy from you. There’s no way to perfectly predict that for every customer, especially when it comes to email campaigns (versus automations) but it’s the foundation you should think about when you’re planning your email marketing strategy.

Automations like abandoned carts, welcome emails, and “thanks for your purchase” emails are seen as standard for this reason, because customers have just taken an action with your store—they signed up, shopped, or made a purchase, so they’re much more likely to see your brand in their inbox and remain engaged with you. The same could be said about email campaigns around major shopping seasons, like BFCM or other holidays, because customers might be looking for things to buy as gifts (or for themselves).

For regular email marketing, since you don’t want to go months between emails (best practice is at least one email a month to keep your list warm, if not more!) it’s a bit harder to give a standard guideline, because it depends on your customers, products, and strategy. You could try testing out times of day or days of the week, to see if you get better results reaching your list at different times.

Hope that helps answer your question!
