Can customers design their own mugs on my sublimation business site?

Topic summary

A sublimation mug business wants to move to Shopify and let customers design their own mugs, with the seller handling printing and delivery themselves (no print-on-demand). They asked if there’s an app/integration to enable on-site design and order capture.

Suggested solutions:

  • Easify Product Options: suited for simpler customization using text fields and file uploads directly on product pages, ideal for template-based designs. Screenshots show app settings and storefront examples.
  • InkyBay – Product Personalizer: a full “design lab” with live preview where customers can add text/graphics, choose colors and sizes, and personalize predefined templates. Supports dynamic pricing based on print types/designs and produces print-ready files (SVG, PDF, JPG, PNG) with all order details. Offers a 12‑day free trial, live support, and no coding setup.

Key terms: “Sublimation” is a heat-transfer printing method for applying dye to materials; “design lab” is an interactive editor; “dynamic pricing” adjusts price by selected customization.

No decision reported; the thread provides app recommendations and remains open.

I have i sublimation business which i want to take to shopify. It is where customers can design their mugs and we print them. I see there are tools for designing for customers on shopify but that is design and import from China. We have the equipment to sublimate ourselves and want to do it that way. Is there and app, add on or integration which makes it so customers can design and we can print and deliver?

Hi @Kostorm ,

It depends on the level of complexity you want to offer your customers when designing their mugs.

For instance, if you provide a template design for the mug and customers just need to submit the image or text they want to include, you can utilize the Easify Product Options app. This app enables you to seamlessly integrate features like file upload for images and text box for custom text input directly on your product pages :hugs: . Here’s an example:

Hope you can give the app a try!
