Hello!
All of my suppliers only accept manual emails to be sent to them when an order needs to be drop shipped. Is there an easier and more efficient way to do this? I have about 3% of the product at my warehouse and the rest is drop shipped. Ideally, when an order comes in, I want to be able to determine whether or not it needs to be drop-shipped or fulfilled at my warehouse.
Hi @Rayala504 ,
You can define separate fulfillment services (which means that separate location will be created for each vendor) once that is done you will need to assign that fulfillment service to your products and each time item gets purchased you will be able to request fulfillment and email to your vendor will be sent.
As for items which you have in stock, you can keep fulfillment service set as “manual” on such variants so each time such item gets purchased you will know that you have it in stock right after you open order.
Attachinng screenshot of how it looks like on order page when you have custom fulfillment services assigned to your products.
I think we are on to something! Thank you!!! As of now, when an order comes in, this is how it looks like. It shows the only location is from CHDLR which is where my warehouse is located. How do I determine locations for each supplier?
Seems like you already has some kind of fulfillment service called “CHDLR”, you can create new fulfillment services under “Settings → Shipping and deliveries → Custom order fulfillment”
it only request to enter fulfillment service name and email, fulfillment service location will be created automatically.
Once you have fulfillment service created, you can assign it to your products variants, keep in mind that each variant needs to have dedicated fulfillment service assigned to it. In this case your products will be grouped into different fulfillment groups when order is placed.
Keep in mind that switching fulfillemnt service may have consequences. If you already using some fulfillment service it may be in charge of stock management (in case you are using some 3-th party apps) As far as I can see your products already has non manual fulfillment service. So make sure that switching fulfillment service will not affect any existing processes running on your store.
Thank you!
Ok - so here is my game plan. I need to rummage through my warehouse inventory and set it to be fulfilled out of my CDLR location. That is where my physical warehouse is located. For each product that we physically have, I need to assign it to the CHDLR location, correct? And then for the remaining products that we drop shop, I need to assign it to the suppliers warehouse location, wherever that may be, correct?
What if I run out of items at my physical warehouse, is there a way to automatically send a note to my supplier to dropship item to customer?
If CHDLR is your warehouse location, then yes, you need to keep items which you have in your warehouse under this fulfillment service.
And dropship items needs to have dedicated fulfillment services created for each supplier.
So in general you understood this concept correctly.
The thing with warehouse items is that you will need to set quantity which you have in your warehouse so in case you have only 1 qty in your warehouse and item fulfillment service is CHDLR you will only be able to sell this item once after that it’s qty will become 0 and no one will be able to purchase it, so in case your supplier has this item, you will need to update item fulfillment service to specific vendor, set new qty and your item will become available on your store again.
Awesome! Thank you so much for your help.
