Its been over a year sense I worked on building my Shopify Store. During Covid I had nearly got to the point that I could launch my Shop but, I had to stop and shut my store completely down. During the time that I was working on my store, I was in a sleep-mode or the store wasn’t visible to customers, my store was never launched on the Shopify platform. Question: Can I come back to Shopify and use the same Domain Name for my shop?
As long as you still own the domain name, you should be able to use it. For example, if you bought a domain through another service like GoDaddy or Google Domains, and you still own it and have the rights to it, you can use it on your Shopify store.
If you are talking about the domain that Shopify automatically gives you when you created your store-- for example, teststore.myshopify.com, then yes! As far as I know this domain will always be linked to your Shopify account. In fact, even if you were to use the domain you purchased elsewhere, this myshopify.com URL will still work as a link to your store. It will simply redirect to your purchased URL.
Here are some helpful links:
- Add a domain to Shopify: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/domains/add-a-domain
- Connect a third-party domain to Shopify: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/domains/add-a-domain/connecting-domains
You can use the same name as long as you have been paying for your domain, which when you first set up a Shopify store you were given a choice to pay for it which is 15 dollars a year so yes as long as you have paid for your domain name you can use it still.
