Can I use an animated GIF logo with the Cascade theme?

Hello, is possible to use animated (GIF) logo to theme Cascade? How to upload GIF logo and make it works?

Sophia here from Shopify.

I added a trial version of the Cascade theme to my test store and was able to successfully upload a gif image as the logo. It was working automatically, so there isn’t a particular setting you need in order to make it work. Just head to Online Store > Themes > Customize in your admin, select the Header section, and upload a logo there by clicking Select Image.

If you weren’t able to upload a gif previously, or if it ended up static rather than animated, it might have something to do with the file size or how it was saved. I’m not seeing any specific recommendations in the theme developer’s documentation as far as image size, but you can contact the theme developer here if you need help with a particular image. I also recommend making sure that your theme is updated, though this shouldn’t be an issue if you installed it fairly recently.

In the meantime, I’d love to learn more about your business and your logo. Is there a particular reason you chose to go with a gif for the logo rather than a static image? Are you setting up a new store, or going through a redesign for an existing store?

We managed to place the gif on the desktop version, but unfortunately the GIF does not work on the mobile version.
Would you please advise us how to fix this?

If the GIF isn’t working on mobile, it might be specific to the device or operating system. I wasn’t able to replicate the issue using an iPhone on iOS 14.6—the GIF I uploaded to my test store works for me on desktop and mobile.

I recommend checking for updates on your device, and testing on different mobile devices if you can. If mobile is still an issue, try contacting the theme developer to see if they can take a look at the GIF with you. They might be able to offer more insight about how animated images work on different devices with their themes.
