Hello! Since Revolut is now a bank, could I just use the IBAN of my personal Revolut account to receive payouts from shopify payments?
Topic summary
Main issue: whether a personal Revolut IBAN can receive Shopify Payments payouts.
Shopify staff caution that Revolut is a virtual bank account and may not be compatible. They do not guarantee payouts to virtual accounts and advise testing first. Requirements for the payout account include:
- Checking/current account
- Eligible for: ACH (US/CA), FPS (UK/IE), BECS (AU/NZ), SEPA (AT/BE/CH/DE/DK/ES/FI/FR/IT/NL/SE)
- Supported currency for the region
Update: One merchant reports a successful test payout to their personal Revolut account (“It worked!”). No further details provided on account type configuration.
Follow-ups: Other users ask if adding the IBAN worked, which specific Revolut account was used (personal vs business), whether it still works, and if using a personal account risks a ban. Staff reiterate the compatibility caveat and testing guidance.
Outcome: Partial confirmation that a test payout to a personal Revolut IBAN can work, but no guarantee or official support. Key questions on long-term reliability, exact account setup, and compliance remain unanswered. Discussion remains open.
Hi there, @Paile .
Thanks for popping your question here in the Shopify Community!
When using a virtual bank account like Revolut, it may not be compatible with Shopify Payments. We cannot guarantee that Shopify Payments will process payments to virtual bank accounts. Prior to adding Revolut, I recommend testing your payouts before using the virtual bank account. If any issues arise, it is encouraged to contact your virtual account provider.
In order to make sure your payouts are received successfully, you’ll need to ensure the bank account associated with Shopify Payments has the following:
- A checking / current account is added
- The account is eligible for ACH transfers in CA/US
- FPS transfers in IRE/UK
- BECS transfers in AU/NZ
- SEPA transfers in AT/BE/CH/DE/DK/ES/FI/FR/IT/NLD/SE
- The supported currency is in your region
For more detailed context, please review our Support Countries for Shopify Payments resource.
If you have any additional questions or need help with other areas of your store, I’ll be happy to answer those questions here. I recommend checking out our Shopify Changelog to stay up to date on new updates with the platform.
Hi Victoria,
Thank you for going so in depth with your answer! I had already contacted support and I was told there shouldn’t be a problem. On your suggestion I’m going to make a test payout. If it works I’m going to update this post, for whoever reads it in the future. Thanks again ![]()
No problem, @Paile !
I’m happy to hear my response was helpful to you. If you have any additional questions or would like tailored feedback for your store, feel free to share your store URL here.

It worked! Today my test payout arrived into my personal Revolut account. This works ![]()
Hi, have you been able to add your IBAN on Shopify?
Hi, @Aln_Sh .
Welcome to the Shopify Community and thank you for joining the thread.
Are you having issues when adding your IBAN number to Shopify?
As shared in the thread above, Revolut is a virtual bank account and may not be compatible with Shopify Payments. We’re not able to guarantee that Shopify Payments will process payments to virtual bank accounts.
You will first want to test out your payouts before using the virtual bank account. In order to make sure your payouts are received, you will need to ensure the bank account associated with Shopify Payments has the following:
- A checking / current account is added
- The account is eligible for ACH transfers in CA/US
- FPS transfers in IRE/UK
- BECS transfers in AU/NZ
- SEPA transfers in AT/BE/CH/DE/DK/ES/FI/FR/IT/NLD/SE
- The supported currency is in your region
Feel free to thread any questions that come to mind!
Hey can you please elaborate which revolut account did you open? much thanks.
Hi,
Is it still working with shopify payments?
Did you use your personal normal revolut or a business revolut account?
If you used your personal one, did you get ban?
