I am looking to add a confirmation box at checkout that says the customer has read the shipping and return policies. From my research it looks like this is an option in France and Germany but not the USA, is it possible to get that added to our account as most of our sales are large ticket items

It’s not currently possible to add a confirmation box like this to the checkout since the checkout cannot be edited beyond the settings available in Settings > Checkout or the style options listed on this page. That being said, it is possible to add something like this to your cart page or express checkout buttons, which are still a part of the checkout process.
We have a guide on how to add this using your theme’s code on this page. You can also use a third party app to do this. I’ve listed a few popular ones below. Using these apps you would be able to link your policy pages directly to the checkbox. If you haven’t done this yet, I would also add your policies to your footer menu following these steps here.
In your situation I would recommend enabling the Require a confirmation step setting as well, so that customers must review their order details before making their purchase. This setting can be found within your checkout settings by going to Settings > Checkout.

Typically this stage of checkout is only enabled in countries where it is mandatory by law. That being said, we should be able to enable this on your account for you if you’d like. To do this you will need to contact a Support Advisor through this page. I’m not able to access your account details over the forums, but a Support Advisor would be able to help you with this further.
One thing to keep in mind is that this setting has statistically been found to reduce conversion rates so I would only have this enabled if it is necessary for your business. We have a great guide on conversion rate optimization here if you would like to learn more.
