I bought a domain from GoDaddy auctions and tried connect to my store. but error message says ’ cannot connect store is frozen’ then I found out the domain was connected to another store before I bought and that store is frozen. I contacted shopify live chat and they said specialized team will contact me to solve this issue. it is been 20 days now I still not got any response even I contacted them again and again to check the progress. what should I do now?
Hi @Damonizy
I totally get how frustrating this must be. You bought a domain from GoDaddy Auctions, tried connecting it to your Shopify store, but ran into the “store is frozen” error. Turns out, the domain was linked to another Shopify store that’s now frozen, and even though you reached out to Shopify Support, you haven’t heard back in 20 days. That’s a long wait, and I can see why you’re looking for the next steps.
Here’s What You Can Do Now:1. Follow Up with Shopify Support (Escalate the Case)
Since it’s been 20 days with no update, you need to escalate this. When contacting Shopify Support again, ask for a case reference number and request to speak with a supervisor or a senior support agent. This will help push your case forward.
-
Explain the Urgency (Clearly & Firmly)
When you reach out, mention that:- It’s been 20 days with no resolution
- You’ve followed up multiple times
- Your business is impacted because you cannot connect the domain
- You need the domain released ASAP to use it on your store
-
Try Shopify’s Social Media Support
If regular support isn’t getting you answers, Shopify’s social media team (Twitter: @ShopifySupport) is often faster at responding. Send them a DM with your ticket number and a summary of your issue. -
Contact GoDaddy (Check for Ownership Release Options)
Sometimes, domain providers can help speed up the release process. Contact GoDaddy Support and ask if there’s anything they can do from their end to remove any previous Shopify DNS settings tied to the domain. -
Consider a Temporary Domain
If your business is being impacted, you might want to use a temporary domain (like a Shopify-provided myshopify.com domain) until this gets resolved. This way, you can continue building your store while waiting for Shopify’s specialized team to fix the issue.
Final Thoughts
I’d recommend following up with Shopify Support one last time with escalation, and if there’s still no movement, push through social media or GoDaddy to see if there are alternative solutions. Hopefully, this gets sorted out soon!
If you need extra help, just let me know asap. Thanks
Daisy.
