Hi. I came across an issue where I can’t find the send “Invoice” option in a customer’s order page. I don’t see the button that usually appears. Does anyone have advice for this? I’d greatly appreciate it.
Topic summary
Multiple users report that the “send invoice” button has disappeared from customer order pages in Shopify. This functionality previously worked fine, allowing merchants to create orders (particularly for B2B customers) and send invoices for payment.
Key Issues:
- The send invoice option no longer appears where it typically would
- Problem seems particularly prevalent with international orders
- Users need to send invoices for unpaid orders (Catch 22: can’t mark order as paid until customer pays, but customer needs invoice to pay)
Workaround Discovered:
From the order page: select “More actions” > “View order status page” to access an invoice page with a payment link. This link can be manually emailed to customers, though Shopify doesn’t include it automatically for international orders.
Status: The issue appears to be a recent change or bug affecting the platform. No official explanation has been provided for why this feature was removed or disabled.
We have the same problem. We used to be able to create an order (usually for B2B customers who do not need a draft order) and then send the invoice. This doesn’t work anymore.
@WebsitePandas Answer 2 does not make any sense. We don’t want to mark the order ‘paid’ unless the customer has paid. In order for them to pay, they need to be sent an invoice but the option has been removed? Catch 22.
This functionality used to work fine and is now broken it seems.
We too are experiencing this issue. But only with international customers. Has this feature been disabled on international shipments for a reason?
I think we found a work around. From the order page if you select more actions > view order status page, you’re presented with an invoice page that has the payment link for the order.
Not a perfect fix, not sure why shopify does not include the link to send invoices on International orders but at least this way you can manually fire off an email to your customer.
