Can't input RBC transit number for Southern Ontario, any tips?

Does anyone know how to enter the transit number for the RBC if you live in Southern Ontario??> > Nothing is working. I have tried to add the 2 at the end and the 7 and removing and adding zeros to the front! Help!!

Hey there, @Topangab . Thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community with your question. I hope you’re doing well!

We don’t appear to be having any issues currently with folks entering in account details like the number you’ve described, so I’m thinking this could be a formatting error more than anything else.

I did some digging and found that an RBC transit number should be 5 digits long. You should be able to see this 5-digit number clearly on a void cheque, where it’s labelled. If you have online banking, you can login to your account, find the void cheque, find the labelled 5-digit transit number, and enter it into Shopify as it appears on the cheque. If you don’t have online banking, you can call the RBC branch that your bank account is linked to and get the number directly from there. I wouldn’t add or remove any additional values to the number - it should just be a 5-digit string of values that you need to enter.

If you track down the number, and try entering it in again, and still have issues, then it may be worthwhile contacting our Live Support team so they can try to help you with this in real-time. You can reach out to the team using this link: https://bit.ly/3cJkx8V.

If you have any additional questions for me, or would like to follow up with me in anyway, feel free to reply to this thread.

Hi, I know it I supposed to be a five digit number and I have tried entering it multiple times but shopify does not recognize it and won’t accept it.

Hey there, @Topangab . Thanks for following up with me here.

Are you getting any specific types of errors when trying to enter in the number? If so, do you mind sharing the error with me here? Or, does the data entry box just flag the number you’ve entered as incorrect?

Are you providing this information for your Shopify Payments Payouts setup? Have you had Shopify Payments Payouts set up in your store in the past, or is this the first time?

I do want to remind you of going the route of the Live Support Team. When we see Payout Setup issues such as this, getting your account authenticated, and having a member of our support team working with you in real-time, can help speed up the resolution process. Often times, Payments issues require eyes from our Payments Team, which can only be contacted once an account have been authenticated.

I’m more than happy to continue assisting you with resolving this issue, but I wanted to be sure I reminded you that the Live Team is also there, and may end up being the correct route to go here, if the error is something we can’t resolve together, or the error you return to me requires authentication to be resolved.
