Can't publish livestock product to Google because of no GTIN

So let me start off by saying I am completely new to selling my products online, besides Ebay. (so I have no idea what I’m talking about, sorry)

I sell live coral that I personally grow, cut, and ship in the US. After uploading some of my items to my website I noticed the alert saying they did not publish to Google because of no gtin or mpn.

Am I not going to be able to have my items pop up on Google because they are live animals and don’t have a barcode, or is there a way around this that I’m not seeing?

Again, sorry for my lack of knowledge, thanks.

Hi @cmaquaculture

It is totally fine to not have GTIN, you will get a warning from Google because of a missing identifier, and in order to avoid this, you need to add a brand and an SKU(Stock Keeping Unit) to your products.

You can brand the product with your own custom brand that should work and in order to add SKU, you can maintain a standard format that works for you.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you wish to see any examples.

CMAqualculture,

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?

I’m running into the same problem and believe that is due to picking “live animal” as product code. I tried everything, even shopify chat which was worse than useless. I see that there are several large online coral sellers, like Worldwidecorals.com, who don’t appear to have any problems with Google shopping or ads. Shopify would not even tell me what category other similar sellers (on shopify) use as a product code!! Kind of like, refusing to tell you Nike has Apparel and Shoes!

Cheers,

Hey, I have the same issue with corals. Did you find a way to fix it?
