Hi,
I do not use a store. I only use Shopify’s Buy Button sales channel to add a button to my Wordpress-driven website.
After clicking the add the cart button for any of my products, the cart appears, but is empty. Only a checkout button is available, preventing customers from editing their carts and quantity etc. Forcing many to abandon it completely!

Yes, of course.
To clarify: I was just not using online store. Simply the buy button sales channel.
In the interest of expediency, I have now started my online store so people can still purchase…
Well if you are on shopify or wordpress for stuffs like this i might have to debug a lot to see why products are not added to cart. For that i will need access to your store. If you are ok with this, please reach out via mail for a convenient conversation.
