Change background color of header on all pages except the home page - Brooklyn

I am trying to change the header color on all pages except the home page in the Brooklyn theme to #1C1D1D. I have the home page with a transparent header which makes all other pages a white header.

When I add code to change the header to black, it changes the home page as well and it is no longer transparent.

I would also need to change the text color to white on those pages so it would show up with the new color.
