Change internal URL's of content page and post

Hi Shopifyers,

Yesterday I changed my main domain in my eCommerce. I’m under construction still but I have many

content uploads. In all content uploaded I have many internal links with the old main domain and I want

change them.

There’s any way to change it all massively?

There’s an app to do it?

Thanks,

Miquel

Hi Miquel,

I am available for work now. Yes there is way to change and I can help you to change internal URL’s of content page and post.

Waiting for your message.

Thanks

Hi @Dbuglabpvtltd ,

Finally, I’ll do it manually. I have 30 products only. This way I’ll review all my content.

Thanks for your offer,

Miquel

Hey, @Miquidesitio !

Can I ask if your domain was your myshopify.com URL, and you have since changed it to a custom URL? If so, they will be no way to remove the myshopify part of the URL within the admin, this cannot be changed once it is created.

Once you choose a store name during the sign-up process, that becomes your URL; so for example - yourstore.myshopify.com. You can purchase a custom domain at a later stage to hide the .myshopify part of the URL, this is quite common. Once you add in your custom domain (for example yourstore.com), the custom domain will be all that the customer sees! The domain you see in the admin is never seen by your customers, it is just visible to you and your staff.

Is this the URL you’d like to change?

Hi @Ava ,

No no. I want to change from aaaa.com to bbbb.com. As you can imagine, I have many internal URL’s

because this change has been after starting to work with the content. Finally, I could arrange all with my SEO app.

But I can’t change the word collections or product from URL.

Shopify doesn’t allow still. Would be good can change the URL to adjust to my product. It’s very important for all SEO.

Thank you for the context here!

At the moment, it is not possible to remove the word ‘collections’, ‘product’ of ‘blog’ from the URL structure. Those are set pathways for the URL to take and is part of Shopify’s core coding, meaning it cannot be edited.

If the customer accesses the product through a collection, it will show the breadcrumbs of how the customer got there through the URL. Whereas, if the customer directly goes to the product from an original link, it will not show the breadcrumbs of how they got there. It would just show: https://www.website.com/products/item1

Although it will still have the additional fields, you can customize your product and collections URL to help reduce the length of the URL.

We have more information here on URL redirects if you’d like to set those up for your store! Can I ask if you are rebranding, or moving to sell different products so you want a new domain name?
