Hello hello! Once upon a time in 2022, I edited the code on my Shopify site (thanks to lovely folks’ guidance in this community) to make sure that external links opened in a new tab. At the time, we were specifically concerned about social media links being opened in a new tab (keeping the original tab to our website open so people don’t get distracted and forget about us). It turns out, this made ALL links (including product links) open in a new tab.

Can this be fixed? We have a pop up set to activate upon arrival, but because product links open a “new” visit, the pop-up is happening on every product page. Very annoying from a customer experience perspective.

At this point, it’s less important that the social links open in new tabs and more important that the shopping experience be enjoyable and seamless.

FYI to anyone who comes across the same issue/need: I found the solution. Change any instances of:

target=“_blank” within the card-product.liquid file to:

target=“_self”
