Collection Specific "Sold Out" Button Wording

Topic summary

A Dawn 8.0 theme user wants to customize “Sold Out” button text differently across collections:

Current situation:

  • Successfully changed sold-out button wording globally
  • Needs collection-specific text variations:
    • “Preview” for look book/portfolio collections
    • Different wording for in-stock collection

Proposed solution:

  • PageFly support provided steps to modify sold-out text via theme locales (Online Store > Themes > Actions > Edit default theme content)
  • Find and replace “Sold out” text with desired wording

Limitation identified:

  • Shopify doesn’t natively support collection-specific sold-out button text
  • While technically possible to implement per-page customization, it would require extensive custom coding

Status: Unresolved - the desired collection-specific functionality isn’t achievable through standard theme settings

I am looking to change the wording on the sold out button in my featured collection. I do not want to say “sold out.”

I was able to change it, however it changes ALL products. I need to have one specific for my in-stock collection (https://www.stackedhair.com/collections/in-stock-now), and my look book collection (https://www.stackedhair.com/collections/stackedhair-portfolio), and one for my previews.

Hi @VanessaPacheco

This is Victor from PageFly - Shopify Page Builder App

You can follow this guide to change it in your store and it will only affect the sold-out products

Step 1: Online Stores > Themes > More Actions > Edit default theme content

Step 2: Find the text “ Sold out “ > and Replace it with your text

Hope this can help you solve the issue

Best regards,

Victor | PageFly

How do I have specific wording for the sold out on previews, look book. I want previews, so say preview, and look book to say sold out.

Sorry, but you will not able to specify the word for the collection like that.
It is because Shopify doesn’t have that functionality. It is possible to specific it by pages but it will require a lot of cutom code
