CTRL + Left Click Opens Two Tabs Instead of One on Firefox (Orders & Products Page)

I’m encountering an issue on the Shopify Admin dashboard where pressing CTRL + Left Click (to open a link in a new tab) on the Orders or Products page unexpectedly opens two identical tabs instead of one only on firefox browser. This behavior is inconsistent and doesn’t happen on other pages.

Happening to me as well on mac with command+click but in Chrome so it sounds like a Shopify issue. If I right click the link and hit “open in new tab” it only opens once. Super frustrating.

Yes, I am also experiencing this issue both on windows and mac. Also reported the issue to shopify but the support said it is related to browswer, report it to firefox. I think shopify should shutdown their support if this is their support.

we are facing same problem, how did u fix it?

For now, Right Click then Open Link in New Tab

Someone tag the Shopify CEO - this is driving me nuts.

Please fix this, it’s still happening and is so annoying!

I just went through chat support for this issue. I’ll copy what they told me here:

When you use shortcuts like Ctrl + Left Click, the browser interprets the action as an attempt to open a new tab. However, this new tab is sometimes treated as a pop-up, which can lead to it being blocked depending on the browser’s settings. You may notice a pop-up blocking window in the tab, which indicates that your pop-up blocker is correctly set up. The issue, however, is generally caused by how browsers handle pop-ups, especially when using keyboard shortcuts.

This isn’t an issue on our end; it’s how different browsers handle these actions. To help you navigate this situation, our TMS has provided a few workarounds:

Middle Click: If your mouse has a middle button, you can use it to open links in a new tab directly.

Right Click: You can right-click on the link and select “Open in a new tab” from the context menu.

Adjust Browser Settings: You can modify your browser’s pop-up settings to allow pop-ups for Shopify or even disable pop-up blocking altogether

What worked for me on Chrome was:

  1. Go to Chrome Settings
  2. Type “pop” in the Search Settings bar at the top
  3. Click “Site Settings” in the results
  4. Scrolling down to the “Content” section and clicking “Pop-ups and redirects”
  5. Removing Shopify from “Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects”

Once I did this the Cmd+Left Click worked as intended. I have yet to try anything on Firefox as it’s not my main browser. Hopefully these answers can help.

enabling pop up on chrome fixed this issue.thanks a ton.

Shopify actually resolve this issue and was not related to popup. Do not need to remove or enable the popup. If the issue still persist remove browser cache and try.
