Dark Mode on the Shop app is gone

There was an app update for the Shop app 4 days ago on iOS. Version 2.176.0. This app update apparently took away everybody’s ability to have the app in dark mode. And people are big mad about it. You can see this if you go to the Apple App Store and look in the review section. Does anyone have any idea on why this happened? And if it will be brought back?

Not just ios, it’s gone from android as well. Even forced dark mode in development mode with no success. Hope they reinstate it as I have eye issues and the white is very taxing for me to look at

do they make changes without asking if people would like this? is there a reason to remove options and just let people decide if they want horrible mode or dark mode? dark mode is nice because it doesn’t hurt my face when i look at the app. now it hurts to look at. they just make changes to things and never think about the end user AT ALL. they don’t use the app the end user does and instead of keeping something simple they remove it. i hope whoever on the design team thought this was a good idea doesn’t have anymore ideas because this is by far the dumbest thing anyone has done. put dark mode back. clearly people are using it if we noticed it we can’t change back to dark mode. stop messing with the user experience. stop taking options away. keep dark mode in.

I feel you. The Dark mode setting actually really helped me w a visual problem I have. Their choice to go white-only on this last update has nearly made me stop using Shop all together. I’m honestly just holding out that this is temp^ ^;;

Hey everyone.. looks like they discontinued it because they thought it wasn’t getting used enough. As per a Reddit comment.

Nope this was intentional, their BS excuse is there wasn’t a demand for it.

I’m in the same boat. I use dark mode always due to light sensitivity. I can’t believe they did this. I can’t imagine it’s that cost effective. I entered the app for shopping and finding smaller businesses. I’m going to stop using the app for this and just go to their site. Shopify ya’ll messed up.
