When I click one of the collections (for example popup events) it opens to a page i’d like to customize.
How do I customize the hero image here? I’d like it to be a different background (an image I want to include).

Hey, @Muchoprinting !
This is Moira from the Social Care team at Shopify. Thanks for posting, and a very warm welcome to the Community!
I completely understand wanting to have a separate hero image on your individual collection pages as sometimes the same image doesn’t fit well in both the thumbnail and in the header section. It is certainly possible to assign two different images although this would require some code editing that our team could provide as you are using one of our free themes and your request falls within customizations we can support.
If you’re on the Basic Shopify plan or higher, then you can receive 60 minutes of complimentary design support. Our team tracks the time that they spend on each theme modification request that you make. If you use the entire 60 minutes of complimentary support, then you can hire a Shopify expert for further help. You can learn more about customizations that Shopify supports below:
While we’re not able to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community at this time, we’d be happy to continue assisting you through live chat, email, or callback. Please visit https://bit.ly/3cJkx8V and log in to your account to create a support request.
If you feel comfortable with making the coding changes yourself, I have linked a tutorial from a previous thread below that you can follow along with:
Important Coding Reminders:
If you make changes to the original code and save the changes, you will not be able to revert back. We always suggest you first duplicate the theme and work in the duplicate. That way you can always go back to your previous version.
If you make changes to the original code in a theme and update your theme to a newer version in the future it will override past changes.
If you need custom changes but would prefer the help of a developer we recommend Shopify’s own Expert Marketplace.
If you’ve changed theme files and need to revert them, you can roll back .liquid files individually to a time and date before you made the changes.
TIP: Shopify collections are one of the most effective ways to make your e-commerce store a more user-friendly place for shoppers to hang out (and buy). Here is a fantastic article that walks you through best practices for optimizing your collections. Having a well-put-together collection and consistently high-quality photos of your products are super important. Backdrops & Canvas Prints are gorgeous items that people love to see the design and colors of, so good photos for an Event Business are a must! Here is a product photography course on Shopify Compass that I suggest taking a look at to help you achieve this.
Let us know how you get on with the steps above, I’m happy to answer any questions you think of as you work on your business.
