Disable the auto-selecting of the first available variant - Dawn theme

Hello

Im using Dawn theme.

I need to disable the auto-selecting of the first available variant. That way, the customer will be prompted to manually select a variant before he can add to cart.

I found this article:

but it’s only for old themes.

I believe it a simple line of code?
