DNS Records not pointing to Shopify

Out of the blue, just received a notification from Shopify stating 'DNS records are not pointing to Shopify ’ and ‘Domain is not Live’. There have a list of instructions (of which I don’t really understand) but I wonder why has this happened now because I have not actioned any changes on my domain name so I am little wary about changing anything.

Has anyone come across anything similar?

Hi there,

I saw your post about receiving a sudden notification from Shopify saying “DNS records are not pointing to Shopify” and “Domain is not Live”. That can definitely be concerning, especially if you haven’t made any changes yourself.

This kind of issue can happen for a few reasons, such as:

Your domain provider (like GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) may have automatically updated or reset something in the DNS records.
Shopify might be unable to detect the required DNS settings due to temporary downtime or propagation issues.
In rare cases, it could be a browser or Shopify-side caching issue.

I help merchants troubleshoot domain and DNS issues like this, and I’d be happy to walk you through it or take a look to confirm everything is set up correctly. Usually, it’s a quick fix, just a matter of making sure your A record and CNAME are pointing to Shopify.

If you’d like, I can guide you step-by-step or even check the records for you (if you’re comfortable sharing your domain provider). Just let me know, I’m happy to help you get your store live and stable again.

Best regards,
