Do I need a license to sell online and in person?

Hello everyone, I’m new to this and just starting to learn how to do everything. I have questions regarding licenses and any sort of legal stuff I should worry about.

I’m wondering if I need a business license or any sort of licenses to own or run a business online as well as to sell in person with pop up stands? Is there any sort of legal issues I should look out for or anything I should get setup to prevent any legal issues against myself? I’ve heard of licenses that were needed to sell online to people in other states, is that a thing or what? I’m going to be integrating with printful for my products.

If anyone can give me any advice that would be great and I really appreciate you!

Talk to an actual attorney for your region they are literally the only qualified person you should listen too.

Do not leave this stuff to random forum questions and opinions.

That said for general unrestricted unregulated non-prohibited items you may not need a license for a sole proprietorship though you may need tax-id’s etc;

Once again noticing a need to consult professionals: attorney’s and accountants for your region.

Thank you and I’ll look into talking with an attorney though it sounds expensive but might benefit me.
