Hello. I am brand new at this. I wasn’t sure how to set up shipping for any products that are not coming from me. How do I set up the shipping? the training doesn’t specify this specific issue or give me enough information.

Thank you for reaching out to our network with your question. I’d be happy to help support you today. To dive right in, I suppose this really comes down to your business model.
There’s two types of shipping considerations to make here as the merchant:
- You need shipping to make sure your products will be delivered
- You must also make sure you cover the cost of shipping when calculating your profit margin
From my understanding you are likely working with a dropshipper to fulfill orders, so you don’t have to worry about shipment of packages. However, you do need to consider what, if anything, you will charge your customers to cover the cost of shipping.
A lot of merchants offer their customers free shipping, a proven strategy for conversion, that you can read more about in our Future of Commerce report. To offer free shipping, you will need to account for that cost when pricing your products.
On the other hand, some merchants retrieve rates from their supplier, and then simply set-up shipping to charge their customer the same amount.
Whether you offer free shipping or not, you will still need to set this up. We have an awesome doc to help you understand how shipping works and walk you through any changes you need to make. Furthermore, each supplier usually offers their own guideline of how to handle shipping, so I highly recommend reaching out to your supplier directly as well.
