Duplicate content (/collection/tag/ redundancy)

Hey Everyone,

I have a client store that is having an SEO issue with duplicate content.

Basically, products are tagged with the same term as the collection.

For example “.com/collection/fryers/fryers/”.

I’ve done a bit of digging around but haven’t been able to find a solution to this exact problem.

Does anyone have experience resolving this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Best,

Marek

Please share your site URL,

Thanks!

Below is an example of the pages in question on our clients’ site:

www.lococookers.com/collections/fryers/fryers/

or

www.lococookers.com/collections/accessories/accessories

I also have created a redirect from the default themed “/collections/” page to a custom page created in pagefly “/collections/all” but for some reason the redirect isn’t working.

Thanks in advance for your help!

@MarekZ

can you just add link without tag like this

https://www.lococookers.com/collections/fryers/

https://www.lococookers.com/collections/accessories/

This is an SEO issue.

The “/collections/fryers/” link exists and takes you to the same place as the “/colletions/fryers/fryers/” link. I’m assuming this is because the collections were previously organized by tag. Unfortunately, even after organizing the product collections by “type”, the redundant links still exist. I’m trying to figure out how to remove them. I’ve created URL redirects from the redundant link to the “/collection/fryer/” but this isn’t working and doesn’t fix the initial problem.

The main problem is that when Google crawls the site, seeing two links going to the same place is hurting our SEO score.
