Hi everyone, I installed the Marketplace Connect app, from what I read they take commissions for each order after the first 50 free, but do they also take the percentage even if the item is sold on ebay? Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide clarification
it’s normal that ebay makes me pay commissions, that’s what i wanted to say, but if i sell on ebay, will shopify make me pay a commission on the item sold on ebay?

Yes, the Marketplace Connect app takes a commission on orders after the first 50 free ones, but this only applies to sales processed through the app. If you sell an item directly on eBay without using the app to sync or process the order, no additional commission is charged by the app. However, eBay’s own selling fees will still apply. Check the app’s terms or contact their support for more details.

Joy V here from the Shopify Marketplace Connect support team. The 1% overage is applied to orders managed by the app. This applies only to your marketplace orders like your eBay orders that meet one or both of these criteria:
- The order is placed on a listing managed (listed/linked) by Marketplace Connect regardless if it was imported to Shopify or not
- The order is pushed to Shopify regardless if the item ordered is managed by the app or not.
If none of the criteria are met, the order will not be included in the order count and no overage will be charged for that order. The overage and order count does not apply to your Shopify sales, only marketplace sales.
