Edit an existing order, change shipping cost / discount

I would really need to be able to change the shipping options / cost and also adjust / remove / ad a discount to an existing order.

Is this not possible, or I’m I missing something?

Option 1

Use Shopify’s built-in “Duplicate” feature to copy the order. You would need to get payment info from your customers again. Then cancel/refund the original. This is a better option unless your average order amounts are very large ( b/c transactions fees aren’t returned to you, and customers wouldn’t wanna be charged 2x of large $ ).

Option 2

Use 3rd party apps. Some of them can create nightmares : https://apps.shopify.com/search?q=edit+order

I agree this is an issue that need to be allowed. They have a payment later option in the order, but they need to allow updating shipping charge. Or allow you for create a partial sales order from a Draft.

100% Agree- seems like the app should allow changes to shipping and discounts if the order has not been fulfilled yet. Shopify- please fix this.

Ye, it is really needed. An example; if a customer places an order then wishes to change it, you can change the ordered items, but it does not allow you to change the shipping. Or, if he customer wants to change the way it is shipped. You need to be able to edit the shipping cost.

Yes, this is really annoying! A draft order functions the way I’d like (allowing customer to choose option on payment), but a collect payment later does not work this way and if I don’t add shipping when I create the order I’m out of luck and have to duplicate it. Such a mess.

Ideally any order that gets a new shipping cost should allow me to send a pay page to the customer to collect that. If they haven’t paid yet then just update the order invoice.

I usually rave about Shopify and I have built tens of sites around this framework. However, It is surreal that Shopify does not have some of these most basic functions that a three year old programmer would have thought of first. Ability to edit your own orders - created on Shopify, not 3rd party app - before they are fulfilled. Unbelievable that this can’t be done, even through the API. Also, did you know that you can not issue a store credit for Refunds unless you have the POS Pro. I don’t even know where to start with that one.

C’mon, Shopify. You have the chance to dominate the world in this domain. Step up.

8 months later still not fixed. They sure keep adding worthless ui updates hiding search bars and the like, but allowing us to edit our own orders? Not gonna happen I guess.

The ability to not change the shipping amount was bad a year ago when I first researched this. Now that I’m revisiting this issue, I was hoping Shopify updated this - I find that it’s still not resolved. What a pain to deal with my customer wondering why I cancelled then recreated their order. Ugh…

Another vote for this. I get customers who make two orders, and I can combine the shipping. But there is no way to remove the shipping fee from one of the orders, even though payment is only Authorized and not yet captured.

Sure, I can just capture the payment and then refund, but then I am charged the transaction fees. Are the fees some huge amount? Of course not, but it’s the principle. I should not be charged a fee for something I am being forced to do.

The edit order screen should just have the shipping be part of the editing options, or shops should be refunded for these transaction fees on refunding.
