Hi,

We use Empire theme. We are trying to enable customers to search for products based on a specific meta field, The goal is to enhance the search functionality on their Shopify store so customers can easily find related products, thus improving the overall shopping experience. Despite having set up the metafield and activated filtering options, Customers are facing difficulties with the search results not appearing as expected.

  • Here is the example, one of my active product has a value “R.Balaram” in ‘author’ field. Now we want to enable my customer search based on this value. even if my customer is searching with partial value, it should show the product. Example Search Terms: ‘Balaram’ or ‘Bala’ or ‘R.Bala’ or ‘R.Bala’ or ‘R.Balaram’ – All these search should pull my product that has the value ‘R.Balaram’ in the Author field.

    Can you help us find the right solution?

I am not sure but i believe Shopify checks the title of the products to match with the search terms and display the products accordingly.

If you need it to also check for the author field you will need to add/edit code to also check for author field of the products.

Just a logic, will need some looking up and implementation.
