Hi Community! I really need to enforce separate billing and shipping addresses on my Shopify account as we are a gift company and 99% of the time customers are sending their purchase to someone else. It is really messing my data as the majority of people are selecting same billing/shipping details so I have the wrong customer data. I am not on Shopify Plus so understand it is not possible to do this but I am wondering is it possible to do this with a developer and could you advise on roughly how many hours you think that might require? I don’t want to be getting an additional app that we have to pay for, would rather change through development if we can.

I hear you,getting accurate addresses is crucial when you’re sending gifts for other people. On a standard Shopify plan, the checkout is locked down, so you can’t force customers to enter separate billing and shipping details.
If you were on Shopify Plus, a developer could tweak your checkout in just a couple of hours to hide that “same as billing” checkbox. But without Plus, the only way to guarantee separate addresses is through a third-party app. The good news is most of these apps are lightweight and only take an hour or two to install and configure, and they’ll save you from chasing down incorrect customer info.
