Facing Issues with Creating International Orders and Invoices — Only India Market and INR Showing

Hello Shopify Community,

We are an India-based Shopify e-commerce store and have been successfully selling to international markets such as the USA, UAE, and others for some time now.

However, for over 2-3 months, we have been facing a serious issue with creating international orders and invoices. Previously, while creating draft orders or processing manual orders, we were able to select the relevant international market (e.g., US, UAE) and the corresponding currency (e.g., USD, AED). Now, unfortunately, we are only seeing “India” as the available market, and only INR (₹) is available as the currency.

This change has affected our ability to:

  • Assign orders to the correct international markets
  • Generate invoices in the correct foreign currency
  • Fulfill international orders properly

We also noticed the message regarding PayPal no longer supporting INR, and upon researching, found suggestions to either:

  • Change the store’s default currency
  • Use a payment method that supports multi-currency

However, we are unable to change our default currency as we are an India-based business, and we are currently using Razorpay, which does support multiple international currencies.

We also discovered that Shopify Payments would solve this issue, but unfortunately, it is still not available in India.

We are looking for a solution to:

  • Enable multi-currency support again in our store for draft/manual orders
  • Assign the correct international markets when creating or managing orders
  • Generate invoices in USD, AED, etc., as we were able to do earlier

Is there any workaround, app, or recommended setup that can help us re-enable international invoicing and market assignment?

Any help or insights from others who may have faced similar issues would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Karan24,

This is a pretty common pain point for India-based merchants since Shopify Payments isn’t available here yet. You’re right that the recent changes around INR/PayPal and draft order currency handling have made things trickier.

A few things you can try/workaround with:

:small_blue_diamond: Manual Orders / Drafts in Multi-Currency
Unfortunately, Shopify’s draft order system now defaults to your store’s base currency (INR in your case). Without Shopify Payments, Shopify won’t allow native multi-currency in draft orders. The only workarounds are:

  • Use a dedicated invoicing app like Sufio or Invoicify, which lets you generate invoices in foreign currencies even if your draft is in INR.

  • Alternatively, use a third-party order management system (like Order Desk) that supports multi-currency mapping.

Since you’re selling internationally already, make sure:

  • Your Markets are properly set up in Shopify (Settings > Markets).

  • Razorpay is configured to accept international payments (cross-check with their support if USD/AED are enabled on your merchant account).

  • For fulfillment + reporting, you may need to tag orders by country/market at checkout or via an automation app like Mechanic (so you can still segment by US, UAE, etc., even if Shopify shows INR).

Some merchants use:

  • Multi-currency checkout apps (like Bold Multi-Currency) to show and collect in foreign currency.

  • Or, set up separate “international” Shopify stores in the markets they sell to (extra overhead but keeps reporting + invoices clean).

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Bottom line:
Right now, without Shopify Payments, you won’t be able to issue draft orders directly in USD/AED from within Shopify admin. The smoothest path is to rely on an invoicing app that supports multi-currency output while keeping INR as your store base currency.

I’d suggest starting with Sufio (Shopify Certified app for invoicing) as the quickest way to get proper international invoices out again.
