Feed back needed on my online store. Not a single sale

I recently reopened my online store after 4 years hiatus. I have had very limited visitors and not a single sale. Shopify has changed A LOT since 2020. Can you please provide some feedback?

My store is: www.vibesjewelry.com

I don’t mean this in a harsh way, but my criticisms of the website are below.

  • Website seems to have a narrow, unattractive layout. It somewhat looks a bit like a fake website.

  • Website images look overly filtered in a bad way, and half of them are blurry.

  • Product images are poor quality and do not make the products look as attractive as they could be in the “Shop for” section.

  • You have an Instagram feed at the bottom with one Instagram post. This again looks like a scam website to me.

  • SEO needs a lot of work.

Hi @Alexandra_Reed ,

Thanks for reaching out to the community and welcome back to Shopify! We are MooseDesk, a comprehensive Live Chat, FAQ & Helpdesk App designed to elevate your customer support experience.

Here are some of my recommendations to revamp your current website, please kindly check.

1. Optimize the header

  • Reduce the size of the logo: An oversized logo can overwhelm other elements, so I recommend making it a bit smaller to balance the visual harmony of your page
  • Freeze the header: A sticky header makes it easier for users to find what they’re looking for and avoid having to scroll back to the top each time they want to navigate to a different website section.

2. Add a hero section

The hero section is one of the first things visitors see and it sets the tone for the entire experience of your web visitors, so try to take advantage of this by adding these elements:

  • A high-quality image or video: Create a desgin that aligns with your brand
  • A compelling headline: It should be your brand’s slogan or key message that highlights your unique selling proposition.
  • A prominent CTA button: Use strong action-oriented language (e.g., “Shop Now,” “Learn More”) and make the button stand out

Take a look at this hero section:

3. Add a second image on hover

The second image can be a different angle, a close-up of details or showing the model wearing it. These can give visitors a more comprehensive view of the product without cluttering the initial product listing. Here’s an example:

4. Add product images

Lack of an image that displays the product in context or next to other products will make it very difficult for users to easily get an precise impression of the product’s size.

3 types of product images that should always be included for most products:

  • Images that show products “In Scale”
  • Images that highlight a product’s features: Feature Callout images (highlight specific components/characteristics of a product that users will find valuable; use cases)
  • 3-5 Images that show products from at least a few different angles

5. Use date delivery instead of estimation

Estimated delivery can feel less certain, while delivery date helps customers know when to expect their order. For example: use Sep 11 - Sep 13, 2024 instead of 3-5 days delivery

As an expert/enthusiast in UX, I recommend implementing these changes to improve customer experience when scrolling through your store.

Hi @Alexandra_Reed ,

I’m Kate from PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder App.

Generally, I love your store’s design, it looks classic but professional. From my CRO expertise, I’d love to give you my suggestions as hereby:

1. Homepage

  • Have a sticky header

If your website visitors are looking for a particular product while browsing, what’s the usual action they would take? They might have to scroll all the way up to the page’s top to find the search bar, which can be a bit of an inconvenience. However, this issue can be addressed by introducing a sticky header, significantly improving the ease of navigation for your customers

Another thing you might care about is that the sticky header with the current logo might take significant space while scrolling. So I would like to suggest that you reduce the size of the logo to save more space to showcase the products.

  • Use images of higher quality

It’s ideal when you take advantage of the slideshow to demonstrate a lot of products you are selling. However, don’t forget that the quality of your images also decides whether the customers want to stay on the website and explore more or skip it. Because the banner will create the very first impression on your visitors as it is the first thing customers see when they visit your website. It’s great when your current hero banner can describe exactly what you’re selling in 5 seconds first.

  • Reduce the white spacing on 2 sides of the page

This saves more space for you to display the page’s main content. As you can see here, 5 collection images of the “Shop for” section can be in a bigger view if the white spacing I mentioned can be reduced.

  • Add more sections
  • Product details: One of the best-sellers from your store should be showcased to catch more attention
  • Instagram feed: Your Instagram content adds a fresh feel to your website by showing you’re active online and interacting with your customers.
  • Testimonial - customer reviews: This section will help you build customers’ trust. You can show rating stars for each product or you can add customer reviews as text and photos. Here is a demo for you:

  • Benefit section: Adding a benefit section in the middle of the homepage will give your customers a reason to purchase from you instead of the competition. This helps reduce the bounce rate and increase the likelihood of purchase.

2. Product page

  • Remove breadcrumbs on

When a customer lands on a product page, they’re curious about that SINGULAR product. So, our goal is to keep the customer on the page long enough to complete a purchase, not to redirect them to your other products.

The less distracting links on your product detail pages, the better.

  • Invest in product media

Have a media list under the main photo of your product to make it easier for your visitors to explore the visual

You should give customers as close to an “in-store” experience with the product as possible.

  • Large multi-angle, detailed photos
  • Video of product in use

As long as your customers can get a full view of your product, the more willing they are to make a purchase.

  • Have the size guide close to the size variant

This would be more convenient for your users when they want to choose a suitable size and make a purchase. The current position makes it easily overlooked and it’s not logical at all.

  • Highlight ATC button

To optimize your call-to-action (CTA) buttons for maximum effectiveness, it’s crucial to use bright and striking colors that contrast well with your text. White and black are reliable choices for text visibility. Popular CTA button colors include blue, yellow, orange, and black, but the key is to select hues that align with your brand.

Here is an example of the CTA button that does not look good as it lacks the background color to be more visually appealing.

And that’s my feedback! Hope it helps you boost the conversion rate.

Cheers!

Hi @Alexandra_Reed ,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I’m Tracy from BON: Loyalty Rewards Referrals.

I’ve taken a close look at your store, https://www.vibesjewelry.com/, and it’s clear you’ve put a lot of effort into showcasing your beautiful jewelry. To help you get more sales and make the shopping experience even better for your customers, I’ve put together some tailored suggestions. These are focused on enhancing your product presentation, optimizing the checkout process, and boosting your online visibility. Let’s dive into some practical steps that can really make a difference.

1. Make Your Images Pop
Blurry images are currently reducing the appeal of your products, which can hurt first impressions.
How to Implement:
Start by using a DSLR camera or hiring a professional photographer to take crisp, high-resolution photos. If that’s not feasible, consider sourcing high-quality images from stock photo sites for inspiration or guidelines. After capturing the images, optimize them for web use with tools like Adobe Photoshop or TinyPNG, which compresses images without sacrificing quality.
Example:
Brands like Tiffany & Co. use crystal-clear, high-res images to make their jewelry look stunning online, helping to create a strong first impression.

2. Ditch the Duplicate Content
Duplicate content across product pages can confuse customers and harm your SEO.
How to Implement:
Use a tool like SEMrush to audit your content and identify duplicates. Then, rewrite each product description to focus on unique features, craftsmanship, and benefits. Incorporate relevant keywords discovered through tools like Google Keyword Planner to enhance SEO while keeping the content fresh and engaging.
Example:
Blue Nile excels in creating unique, detailed descriptions for each piece of jewelry, which helps improve SEO and makes each product stand out on its own.

3. Bring in the Social Proof
The lack of customer reviews is a missed opportunity to build trust and encourage purchases.
How to Implement:
Start by sending follow-up emails post-purchase, encouraging customers to leave reviews. Offer incentives like a discount on their next purchase to motivate them. Use platforms like Yotpo or Judge.me to collect, manage, and display these reviews on your product pages.
Example:
James Allen showcases customer reviews prominently on their product pages, which builds trust and provides valuable social proof, significantly boosting conversions.

4. Add a Little Extra with More Media
Relying solely on static images limits customer engagement.
How to Implement:
Consider adding videos that showcase your products in action, 360-degree views to explore every angle, or a zoom feature for close-up details. Tools like Vimeo or YouTube can help you create and embed videos easily.
Example:
David Yurman uses engaging media such as videos and 360-degree views to give customers a more interactive experience, helping them feel more confident in their purchase.

5. Simplify the Layout
A cluttered layout can confuse customers and lead to a poor user experience.
How to Implement:
Simplify your product pages by organizing content into clear sections. Make sure the “Add to Cart” button is prominent and easy to find. Use tools like Canva to design a clean, minimalist layout that guides customers smoothly through the page.
Example:
Harry Winston is known for its clean, well-organized layout that keeps the focus on its luxurious products, making the shopping experience straightforward and enjoyable.

6. Streamline the Checkout Process
A complicated checkout process is a major reason for cart abandonment.
How to Implement:
Simplify your checkout by implementing a one-page checkout system, offering a guest checkout option, and clearly displaying all costs upfront. Make sure the checkout process is fully optimized for mobile users.
Tools:
Shopify offers plugins like One-Page Checkout to help streamline this process.
Example:
Tiffany & Co. provides a simple, transparent checkout process that reduces friction, helping more customers complete their purchases.

7. Expand Payment Options
Limited payment methods can lead to lost sales if customers can’t use their preferred option.
How to Implement:
Add more payment gateways such as PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. These options cater to a broader audience, making it easier for customers to complete their purchases.
Tools:
Shopify supports multiple payment options, and you can easily integrate these through your dashboard.
Example:
Kay Jewelers offers multiple payment options, ensuring that customers can choose their preferred method, reducing barriers to completing a purchase.

8. Boost Your SEO Game
If your site isn’t showing up in search results, you’re missing out on potential traffic.
How to Implement:
Optimize your product descriptions with relevant keywords, ensure your site structure is search-engine-friendly, and improve page speed using tools like Google PageSpeed Insights. Start a blog to drive organic traffic by covering topics related to your products.
Tools:
Use SEMrush for keyword research and Yoast SEO to optimize your content.
Example:
Blue Nile uses a combination of SEO strategies, including optimized product pages and valuable content, to maintain high visibility in search results.

I believe these suggestions will help you enhance the shopping experience at Vibes and make it ease your customers experience while shopping. Implementing these changes can drive more traffic, boost customer engagement, and ultimately increase your sales. If you have any questions or need further assistance, I’m here to help.

If you find these suggestions helpful for you, please let me know by giving BON Loyalty a ‘LIKE’ or marking it as a ‘SOLUTION’.

I would be happy to review your website and provide feedback on the performance. Here are my recommendations to improve the UX/UI of your website

1. Banner

You should add a high-quality, eye-catching hero banner with a clear value proposition and a strong call-to-action (CTA). Highlight any ongoing sales, new arrivals, or bestsellers to catch customers’ attention. Below is a reference:

2. Featured products

  • You can add promotional sections such as: Best sellers, On sale, New arrivals on homepage to catch the attention.
  • You should add ATC, add to wish list, quick view buttons and make price and discount labels more noticeable to encourage customers to buy products.
  • Below is a reference

3. Improve search bar

You should enhance the search by making it automotive as type in several characters, it will show products directly, no need to enter. Also, showing pricing, adding search by material, search by collection to improve search bar. Below is a reference:

I hope some of my suggestions are helpful, feel free to give me any feedback.

Good luck!

Thank you so much MooseDesk! This is very helpful; except I am not an expert website developer. I am a one woman show and built the website by watching tutorials. I also take the pictures, design and make the pieces, write descriptions and prepare orders. As of right now, the website is active; however, I have not re-launched the store officially, and certainly not on social media, until I have it the way it should be. Trying to put all the pieces together so I can improve it. I truly appreciate your feedback!

As of right now, the website is active; however, I have not re-launched the store officially, and certainly not on social media. Hence, there are no sales or social media posts, and previous reviews were deleted while the website was inactive for 2 years due to Shopify removing the app I was using. Hi @Alexandra_Reed ,

It’s great to hear that our suggestion has been helpful to you.

Hi Kate, what is your rate to help me make all these changes? Also changing the theme? Thank you!
