Read this guide to see why Google would change your meta description (or title): https://www.digitaldarts.com.au/shopify-meta-descriptions-titles-seo-tags and what to do about it.

There are three ways you can shape the snippet:

  1. Structured data. Also known as schema or markup, structured data defines the content of a page. For example, a review can be marked up so Google knows it’s a review. Our SEO manager Emily wrote for Search Engine Journal about the structured data to include on your store.
  2. Content of the page. This includes product descriptions, FAQs, collections content, articles, and any text on the page. The h1 tag is one of the biggest influencers.
  3. Titles and meta descriptions. This is what the guide is about.

Hello @Manself ,

I am Gina from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $5Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.

There are a few things you can do if you have recently updated the meta description of your website and it’s not appearing correctly on Google.

  1. Wait for Google to update its index
It can take some time for Google to crawl and index your website after changes have been made. It may take a few days or even weeks for your new meta description to appear in search results.

  2. Check the source code of your website
Make sure that the meta description tag in the HTML source code of your website matches the updated meta description that you want to appear on Google. If the tag has not been updated, Google will continue to display the old meta description.

  3. Check for other instances of the old meta description
Make sure that there are no other instances of the old meta description on your website, such as in the page content or in other meta tags. Google may be picking up on these instances instead of the updated meta description.

  4. Make sure your meta description is relevant and concise
Google may choose to display a different meta description than the one you have specified if it determines that another description is more relevant or concise for the user’s search query. Make sure that your meta description accurately describes the content of your website and is concise enough to fit within Google’s character limit.

  5. Use Google Search Console
Use the URL Inspection tool in Google Search Console to check if Google has indexed your updated meta description correctly. You can also request that Google re-crawl your website to ensure that the updated meta description is picked up.

By following the above tips, you should be able to ensure that your updated meta description is correctly displayed on Google search results.
