Green flashing light showing item in stock

Topic summary

Request to add a green flashing indicator on the product page to show items in stock; the requester has no coding experience and is unsure if a 2019 code snippet still works.

Latest guidance:

  • Check your current theme: some themes include stock indicators. The Impulse theme has an option for this (demo links were provided).
  • Consider an app: Product Inventory Information can show stock status, though not as a green flashing light.
  • If editing theme code from a guide, create a backup copy first so you can revert.

Support options:

  • If you use a Shopify free theme and have complimentary design time (Shopify’s limited free customization assistance), Support may help if the change is supported. Contact Support after logging into your store.
  • Alternatively, post a job on the Shopify Experts marketplace.
  • For broader skills, Shopify Learn offers free courses.

Key unknowns: which theme is used; whether the 2019 code remains compatible.

Outcome/status: no implementation yet; next steps are to identify the theme and choose between built-in settings, an app, Support/Experts, or custom code; discussion remains open.

Hello, I am looking to create a green flashing light that indicated that a product is in stock on my product page, I have no coding experience and learn through this community, any help would be tremendously appreciated

A previous reply from 2019 had a code to use for this but I am unsure if it’s still valid and if the system has changed

Hi @KarolisV99 ,

Great question!

What theme do you use? Some themes will already have this feature, but it may not be enabled by default. For example, the Impulse theme has this option available. You can see the demo product page here.

You could try a Product Inventory Information app with a stock indicator however, it’s not a green flashing light.

If you found a guide on adding this feature within your theme code, you can definitely try to edit it to see if it works for you. Before you customize a theme, it’s a good idea to make a backup copy to discard your changes and start again if necessary.

Assuming you are using Shopify free theme and your store has enough complimentary design time left, our team may be able to look into this for you if the customization is supported.

You can reach out to our Contact Us page at this link. Then log in to your store. It will allow us to verify you as the store owner securely. Once you have successfully logged in, you should be able to reach out to a Support Advisor.

Finally, you can post a job on the Shopify Experts Page and see what feedback and quotes you get.
