Hello, it’s 2022 and I keep reading that Shopify no longer lists Hair Extensions business as high risk. The responses are from 2016. Does this mean Hair Extension businesses on Shopify can now use Shopify Payments for their choice of payment options without being closed or put on hold?

That’s a great question!
Hair extensions are no longer explicitly listed as prohibited in the Shopify Payments Terms of Service here.
With that being said, these types of stores will be reviewed on a case by case basis by our internal teams, your business and other factors will be taken into consideration by them. So while a review is taking place, your Shopify Payments will be on hold until the review is completed.

Shopify store, so that maybe why my Shopify payments didn’t work after set up. It was under review. Good thing to know. How long does review process take?

If your account is under review, then this is a standard check carried out by our Accounts Department for merchant security and compliance with requirements and Terms of Service, explore more about that here. In the meantime, your customers can continue to purchase items on your online store. The Accounts team work as quickly as possible as we understand how important payouts can be for cashflow. It can take a few business days to complete a review, but I want to reiterate that it’s done in the interest of you and customer’s security. If the Accounts team need any further information or clarification, they will email you. Please keep an eye out for that and check your spam folders - it’s best to reply to them directly if they happen to reach out. I hope this helps!
