Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I’m happy to provide some guidance with eligibility requirements for setting up Shopify Payments on the shop, to get this resolved. To provide some context, Shopify Payments is only available in select countries but hope to expand within the future. It’s completely understandable how this may not be ideal, but recommend checking out our Shopify Payments Requirement document for more information.
The process for potentially becoming eligible however, does include a few requirements. This would include your business having physical operations in Japan. For example, this can include offices, retail locations, rented or owned warehouse spaces, etc. Additionally, you would be required to provide documentation as proof of the physical operation in Japan.
If those above requirements can be met, please feel free to Contact Support to begin the review process. This will allow us to investigate further and determine if you’d become eligible. It’s important to note however, if no physical operation is present in the country, then you can refer to Third-Party Payment Providers for a full list of available payment options.
