Karlie here from the Shopify Guru Team! That’s so exciting! How are you finding building your online storefront so far? Have you had a chance to look into which payment gateway you’re going to use?

I’ve gone through your storefront and I would be happy to share some first impressions with you! The first aspect I notice is your logo - it’s striking and demands attention, your slogan tells me immediately what your store is all about and your storefront seems pretty simple to navigate through. So far I find your graphics and font choices to be really visually appealing. However, I do find your slideshow to be a little distracting. You’ve done a great job keeping your website looking professional, but the slideshow doesn’t match the overall feel of your website and it completely hides your navigation bar at the top due to the thinner font choice. I would recommend either removing your slideshow completely or substituting with different imagery that matches the vibe of your online store. If you don’t want to change your slideshow, you could always simply remove the white background on your logo - which will clean up the look of your slideshow.

Another aspect that I find to be out of place with the aesthetic feel of your website are your product images. The product images themselves are very clear, crisp and well photographed, but some of your product images show up quite larger than others on your homepage and collection pages. For example, the Degenerate Regenerates - Suitable For Minors product image looks almost twice as large as the other product images. I would recommend keeping the same format and size for each of your product images, doing this simply keeps your page consistent and professional looking.

As an online shopper myself, I really enjoy seeing a product in action by another consumer. Customers really like seeing or reading about other customers opinions before they purchase. Having a social media presence really builds customer-to-merchant trust. With the uprising of social media marketing, it would be beneficial to your brand to show social evidence on your homepage. You could do this by simply adding a product reviews app on your storefront or you could even use a social media feed to show your future customers what your brand is all about.

Having an ‘About Us’ page would be a great addition to your homepage. An ‘About Us’ page allows you not only to build customer-to-merchant trust but it also allows visitors to see what your brand is all about.
