I am a consultant for an e-commerce app and take care of their Shopify client onboarding process. I have a repetitive process I have to go through with each one and want to automate and eliminate as much as I can.
I set up a Calendly to automate the appointments and also get the necessary information I need.
I want to have them invite me as a partner to their account, instead of me having to do it. Is that possible?
Collaborator requests can only come from the partner who wants to work on the store. This is to ensure that the merchant is providing access to the correct partner account and that partners not working on the store don’t receive invitations. Account owners are not able to initiate the collaborator request on their end.
If you own Shopify Partner account you can simply request the website access as collaborator. You just need their shop’s .myshopify.com url and you can initiate the process within Shopify Partner account.
@Shay underlying need here is an api/import for Partners to automate collab requests, it’s a rather tedious chore if one doesn’t know how to automate such things.
@nicklocicero If it’s for theme work , see the themekit request app
there’s no merchant facing docs for theme kit access on help.shopify.com???
So either the merchant/staff installs the app and sends an access email with a link/password.
Or if your managing a stores apps you should then be able send out the access invites if part of the friction here is setting up delegation where you don’t want to wait on the principal to read, review & confirm store access or even know it’s needed.
Note - afaik currently there is no way to set permission per theme id? with this workflow app
Alternative is clone store as much as possible as the admin, invite whoever, and then deploy the changes to the live store yourself on the store you have access too , with or without the new github integration.
For other areas of work that are facilitated through the API is that is to have the merchant setup the private app and provide credentials.
