How can customers add star ratings to my blog articles?

Hi,

I am looking for a way for customers to be able to add star ratings to articles in my shopify store. I use the blog feature for posting recipes and it would be great if my customers could rate the recipes so I could display all my recipes to them sorted from top to lowest rated. I have searched through this forum and the app store but have not been able to find out how to make this work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Antonio

Hey @antonio_cabiuna !

Really love this idea, and thank you for posting here in the Community!

As mentioned by @oscprofessional , this may be achieved by the use of an app from our app store here, however I understand that you might be having trouble finding your specific request. This would not be something that we could support or set up for you, as this would not be native to our platform. While I did not find any apps that does blog ratings specifically, I did find this app here called Rating Widget 5-star reviews.

It might be possible that the app developers could modify this to work with your blogs, so it might be worth reaching out to them here directly at this link and checking with them!

You could also contact/hire one of our Shopify Experts here at this page, who specialize in more complex customizations like this one. With all that being said, this would be a great feature to add to our platform, so I have submitted this as feedback with our developers for you. I cannot guarantee that this will be added in the future, however we love feedback such as this as it helps us improve the platform.

By the way, I really loved hearing that you post recipes to your blogs. There are so many benefits with blogging. As more content is added to your store, this will help your SEO as Search Engines will crawl your site more often. Thank you for the thorough reply, Maz, I will reach out to Shopify experts!

Either way I think it would be great if the Dawn theme allowed for star rating for articles. Since it already supports star reviews for products and comments for articles it doesn’t seem it would be too much of a stretch. Personally, I think that articles should be able to work/be organized more like products, i.e., there could be collections of articles, a more customizable home page for articles and so on. With so many startup stores/brands relying on content creation to drive sales, I think the blog/articles features could use a little more attention. I am planning on using an app which allows for articles to be added do collections and to create a new blog page based on the dawn home page where I could display these article collections as is normally done with products, it might just work but I wish I was able to do this natively.

Anyway, I hope my feedback helps a little in further development. I have been enjoying Shopify Overall.

Hey @antonio_cabiuna !

Thanks for getting back to me and for your very informative feedback. I most definitely agree that blogging can boost sales, so this would be a great option to have. We really do appreciate this type of feedback as it helps us improve our platform.

So what I will do is, I will have this forwarded to our developer team, hopefully they might consider providing this feature and help out precious merchants, like you. I’ll be forwarding this feedback to them. Though it would be difficult to provide any concrete timeline to you regarding the changes, but I can assure you that your request will not go unheard.

I hope this helps even just a little, but do not hesitate to reply here if you have any other questions, have a great day ahead!

Your best bet is to use Recipe Kit, this will add all the correct structured data to the article so that it is considered a recipe in the search engines, and it allows for ratings. I’m not affiliated with them at all, but we have several clients that are publishing recipes in blog posts so I’m familiar with this issue.
