Does anyone know how to add a custom banner to my Shopify store? I cannot add it manually with the Shopify store design section, so I guess it is strictly coding-based… I would like to have this banner between a collection of products… please if someone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

After that go in your theme editor, collection template and add new section called full image

To edit code:
From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
Click Actions > Edit code.
For theme editor: From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
Find the theme you want and click on customize.
It will open your theme editor, and on there go to the dropdown (top page = center), it will have Home Page , click on it and find the template you want to edit 
Yes that makes sense but now how do I add the banner after adding the code and completing the rest of the steps?
After finding the template you want to edit, on your left side find sections and add a new one. This one, for example, is called Full Image - add it and place it wherever you want
