Hello, I cant seem to find a good answer to this question. I want to add a customized laser engraving option to some of my products. Is there a way to do this? Ideally the customer would choose a “customize” option when adding to cart, then have a text field where they can enter what they want engraved on the product.

Oh man, that helped get so close. I dont want to have it for every product, only specific ones. Also, I would like for it to be an “option” at a different price point. I have some products, like knives, that are engrave-able, and some that aren’t. Would I have to create a whole new product WITH the engraving option, or can I just ad it as an option (or maybe a varient?) to an existing product. Thanks so much for helping me with this.
You have to create a product template then assign it to a product so the textfield only appears in that template. Please follow the instructions in our website on how to add using custom liquid to add a textfield.
If you want to add it as an option for a different price, you can just add a variant “item with engraving”

As you wanted a text field where customers can enter their text, you can easily find the solution for this using the Inkybay - Product Customizer app. This app has a Product Options feature. Through this, you can add text fields for your products on the product page. Also, you can use this product option(text field) only for a specific product and for a group of products. You do not need to create a new product to use this. But if you want to allow your customer to give a live preview after adding text, you can do that using Inkybay as well.

I’ve got a straightforward solution for you to effortlessly implement custom engraving options with extra fees on selected products in your store – and the best part is, no coding is required. Here’s a step-by-step example 
:
Storefront:
Settings:
- Install the Easify Product Options app and create a new option set.
- Integrate a checkbox enabling customers to choose custom engraving. Apply an additional fee if they opt for the “Yes” option.
- Include a text field for customers to input their engraving text.
- Implement Conditional Logic to display this field only when the previous checkbox option is selected.
- (Optional) Integrate a font picker option for customers to choose their engraving font. Enable a preview of the selected text font on the preceding text field.
- Lastly, select the product(s) you wish to add these options to, and it’s complete!

Step1: Click “Create New Personalization” from app’s home screen
Step2: Set up the personalization,
The first part of step2 is use the setting as this pic, here you are setting up what your customers will see on the product page (the section above “add to cart” button).
