How can I add dynamic content to a section with an image and text overlay?

I would like to add dynamic content within my product templates. I understand how this works using metafields. However I would like to use dynamic content using a section where an image has overlay text. For example the section “Image with text overlay”. I am able to use dynamic content for the image, link, subheading, text, label. But one of the most important elements “Heading” doesn’t contain a dynamic functionality. As an alternative I tried the section “Gallery” and the section “custom content” (the image in that section), but also here the field “Heading” doesn’t allow dynamic content. After contacting both the developers of my Theme (Symmetry) and Shopify Support they mentioned it is not supported for this field and Shopify advised me to contact the community.

Does anyone know how I can have a dynamic section that has an image with a text overlay?

Hello @ArneSchuilenga ,

Try to change the field type.
If it’s ‘text’ then try ‘html’ or ‘richtext’, if it’s ‘html’ then try ‘richtext’ or ‘text’ and vice-verssa.

Thanks for you reply. Where do I need to change the fieldtype? Do you mean in the code? If so where can I find this? I know a little coding but I do need some guidance :wink:

If you are not aware about the theme flow and structure then it’s not possible for me to let you know where to edit.
btw If you are using shopify 2.0 enabled theme and as per your query I guess you have to make edit in main-product.liquid
