We’ve recently changed over from square to shopify.
We are a service and repair workshop as well as selling our accessories. One thing square had for their invoices (Draft Orders in Shopify), was the ability to add NOTES to each item that the customer can see. This is very important when charging for labour as it gives you the ability to explain what the labour is for or explain why a particular window was replaced.
I know you can add notes the customer can see before sending the invoice, however this is a lot harder than adding itemised notes as you can see each item and add notes as you go. Once your on the screen where you can add notes in shopify you can’t even see the items anymore that you need to add notes for.
The majority of our income comes from labour-based invoices like this and our service advisors are pushing strongly to move our company back to square if we can’t find a suitable solution
Hi @Cody_D , if you are open to using line item properties (for each item) for the notes, I think my app can help!
The app name is Draft Order Helper (https://apps.shopify.com/draft-helper).
The app allows you to add line item properties to each items in the draft order, you can write your notes on each of the items.
After installing the app, you can go to your draft order, select “More actions” > “Edit line item properties”, and you can add your notes to each item there :
After saving the notes into line item properties, you can edit the draft order invoice email template to show the line item properties (I can do this for your store for free if you would like, after you install the app), then the invoice email will show the notes to the customer like this :
