How can I adjust inventory for different bracelet sizes?

Hey! I run a bracelet business where I string bracelets ahead of time, but don’t size them until after the customer has ordered it to ensure a perfect fit.

I’m running into an issue being able to track the inventory because of sizing. I offer 5 different size bracelets, but I don’t have a specific quantity of each size seeing as I size them after the order is placed.

Ideally I could put the same size quantity for each bracelet size, and then if someone purchases one (no matter the size) each variant would update.

For example: size XS-XL would all have the quantity of 10. so, if someone purchased a medium, each size would update to 9 (even though only a medium was purchased). Because truthfully I only have 10 bracelets in stock, not 10 of each size.

I hope that makes sense and if anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it!

Hi @bijoubracelets

There’s no way to link inventory. You would need an app to have the functionality you need.

One way of doing this is having no variants, but on the product page adding property fields. What will happen, when a customer chooses a property field, it’ll show up on the order notes. It gives the illusion of variants, but on the backend you only have 1 variant.

https://ui-elements-generator.myshopify.com/pages/line-item-property < here is a site where you can generate shopify properties.

Hi Carlee

You can achieve this by bundling up the different variants and link them to the actual inventory item. Our bundling app updates all the bundles when one of the components is reduced so in your case when you sell an XS in one product all the other XS would also reduce shortly afterwards.

Let me know if you need hand in setting up the bundlup app.
