We are considering stacking them horizontally (aligned to left) however, it doesn’t explain why it’s rendering like it does on mobile.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I don’t have custom.css or theme.css files but I tried the code in these two files the Dawn theme has;
theme-editor.css (I copy and pasted in the very bottom of page)
custom-style.css (I copy and pasted in the very bottom of page)
Tested on various mobile browsers (FFox, DDGo, Safari) but unfortunately it didn’t change the layout.

Not really. I don’t want to change existing layout by adding another line. I just want a space between the words where necessary, Thanks.
