How can I bulk import barcodes to existing products in my online store?

I have already uploaded many products in my shopify online shop, with title and description, the problem is that i imported them without barcode, and now i need the barcodes for my in-store work. i have a csv file with my products’ SKUs and barcodes, but when importing products shopify overwrites by title, not SKU, i find this odd since it is a lot easier to organize products by SKU than title. Is there any way to force shopify overwriting porducts by SKU rather than title so i can import all my barcodes? is there a better way to update my products?

I know i could download them and put toghether the 2 files i am just wondering why it works like this and if there was a better way

Shopify isn’t using title as identifier, title is only used while generating handle which may be indexed in case more than 1 item has same title (-1, -2, -3 etc).

Best way to update already existing products is to firstly export them from shopify, update export file and push it back to shopify.

If you already have a list of barcodes per SKU, try using vlookup() function on Excel it allows you to look up data from another sheet if they have common identifier (in your case both files has SKU, on shopify export it’s column “O”), attaching sample screenshot of how you can use vlookup function on excel.
