On signup I provided all my details for payments and banking like ssn and so on. Upon further review I noticed you must be 18 years of age to be on Shopify or your parents must sign up for you. Me being 17(turns 18 in December 10th 2020) I have already created my website and sourced a product and wanting to launch it. How can I change all of my information to my mom’s therefore, abiding the terms of service?
Ted here from Shopify, thanks for posting your query.
So firstly, I would recommend duplicating your store’s data as soon as possible so you have a backup of everything on another device if needed.
After that, you will need to change the account owners log information to your parent or guardian’s details instead. I’d recommend doing this as soon as you can. The best way to do so would be to add them as a new staff member and then transfer the ownership to their account.
Once transferred, our Shopify Payments team can help change the Shopify Payment gateway information to the new owners. Our support can only help make this change when speaking to the account owner, so they will need to contact us directly after you transfer the ownership. In addition, they will need to update the credit card entered in the Settings > Billing section to their own preferred payment method.
Shopify accounts are always subject for review as per our Terms of Service so the advice I am providing you here is just a guideline, however, the outcome might be different once reviewed by our Shopify Payments, Risk or Legal Department.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know, I’m happy to help!
