I have an order that is listed as fulfillment in progress. I refunded the order, but it still says Fulfillment in Progress in Shopify. I use a drop shipper and the request is cancelled on their side. I feel like I didn’t go through the proper steps to have the fulfillment status changed to cancelled.
Is their a ways for me to change the fulfillment status to cancelled? I tried clicking the … on the fulfillment section, but cancel is not one of the options.
Hi @GGE ,
Shopify orders fulfillment requests work in the following flow:
You create fulfillment request (Order status “In progress”, line items of fulfillment request status “Requested”)
3-th party app needs to accept it (Order Status “In Progress”, line items of fulfillment request status “Accepted”)
3)If you want to cancel it, you need to click actions menu next to fulfillment location (Three dots) and click “Request cancellation”. (Order status “In Progress”, line items of fulfillment request “Cancellation requested”)
4)Once 3-th party fulfillment provider confirm cancellation, your order status will become “Unfulfilled”
Attaching screenshot which represents whole flow of 3-th party fulfillment request cancellation.
Got it, seems like your 3-th party fulfillment service doesn’t use opt-in which allows you to cancel fulfillment until it’s not accepted by your vendor. There are 2 ways to cancel such fulfillment requests:
Your vendor can cancel it via API.
You can click on fulfill (item will be market as fulfilled) and then you will have ability to Cancel fulfillment. This is not ideal way and you shoudln’t do it unless you are sure that your vendor isn’t going to ship this item.
Personally I would suggest you to use first option, ask you supplier to guide you how cancellation is implemented on their system. And how you can cancel fulfillment requsts.
But if you don’t have any other option you can reset fulfillment status using option 2.
