How can I check and improve my store's loading speed?

Hi I am new to shopify I have created my store but its seems slow from where I can check my store speed and which loading speed is considered good

Thanks

Hello @Youmi12 !

You can check your store speed using the following websites:

  1. https://gtmetrix.com/

  2. https://www.uptrends.com/

Websites that loads within 5 seconds are considered as good loading speed.

Hope this helps!

Thanks

Hi @Youmi12

We recommend using a combination of webpagetest.org and the Shopify Analyzer (free analysis tool we built for the Shopify community) to check website performance.

We know that many store owners use Google Page Speed Insights (PSI) for testing website performance. While this is a great tool that can provide some good feedback, it’s not 100% applicable to Shopify sites. This is why we see PSI scores for Shopify sites range between 15-30 on mobile.

It’s also worth noting that Shopify’s Speed Score is built on top of the same engine that PSI is (Lighthouse). We typically see Speed Scores range between 15-35. Apps tend to have a pretty large impact on these scores, so I’d keep your installed app list to a minimum and uninstall any that aren’t essential.

We have a few great articles you can check out that go into more detail about PSI and Shopify’s Speed Scores:

I hope this info was helpful. Best of luck!

Hi @Youmi12 ,

I agree with @JohnCodes , webpagetest.org offers one of the best ways to test your sites speed if you have some technical knowledge.

The reason why it’s better than other speed testing tools is because you can make it specific to customers who visit your website. In other words, if you sell to EU customers only, you don’t care how US customers experience your site.

We have a small section on using this tool in our reading waterfall chart video tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8LIoxwILVE

Hope it helps,
