How can I delete transferred orders before opening my new online store?

I have recently switched from Etsy to Shopify.

I was able to transfer some of my orders from Etsy to Shopify but I have decided that I want to keep them separate. So is there a way I can get rid of the orders before I open my Shopify?

I only managed to import 1/4 of my orders from Etsy so I just want to start again on Shopify.

Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi there,

Before you delete the orders, please keep in mind that only the following types of order can be deleted:

  • Orders that were paid with a manual payment method
  • Orders that started as a draft and were then marked as paid
  • Orders that were imported through the Shopify API
  • Test orders

Here’re the steps to delete an order:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Orders.

  2. Click an archived or canceled order.

  3. Click Delete this order at the bottom of the page.

I hope this answer will help.

Im just about to start working on a shopify site but I will keep my Etsy open as well. Etsy ads work pretty good for me so I’ll keep running those but Im going to direct all my social media to my Shopify site. I’ve been wanting to have my own site for awhile but assumed that I wouldn’t get enough sales to justify it because Etsy seems to say I do not drive much of my own traffic but I’m going to increase my social media ad’s and see what happens. It anything I think it looks more professional to have a standalone site vs Etsy when you are advertising and I’ll be able to link Shopify to instagram shopping tool so I’m excited about that

Hi!

Thank you for your reply!

I have over 900 orders that I imported so do I have to go through each one individually and delete them?

thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey!

Yeah that my plan also! I want my Shopify to be at 0 orders at the beginning though so I can see how many orders I have altogether. I thought I wanted to connect them both but I just want them separate now even though I will be keeping my Etsy at the moment :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m afraid so.

You may contact Shopify support to check if they have a better solution for this.

Good luck

Congratulations on your transition from Etsy to Shopify! It’s great that you’re looking for a fresh start on Shopify. No need to worry; I have a step-by-step solution for you:

Step 1: Delete Current Data:

In your Shopify Admin, navigate to the Orders section. You can select and delete all the existing orders you imported from Etsy. This will clear out the data you currently have on Shopify.

Step 2: Re-transfer with Control:

To ensure a smooth and controlled transfer of data, it’s recommended to use a third-party app like an Etsy Integration App. This app will give you better control over the transfer process and allow you to choose exactly what data you want to transfer.

Step 3: Etsy Integration App:

Search for and install a reliable Etsy Integration App from the Shopify App Store. These apps are designed to facilitate seamless data migration from Etsy to Shopify and vice versa.

Step 4: Choose Data to Transfer:

Once you’ve installed the app, you’ll be able to select which specific data you want to transfer from Etsy to Shopify. This way, you can skip the data you imported earlier and only bring in the orders you want.

Step 5: Adjust Order Management Settings:

Go to your Shopify settings and find the Order Management section. Here, locate the option that allows the app to manage orders. Uncheck the box labeled ‘Manage Orders through App.’

By following these steps, you can start fresh on Shopify while managing your orders separately and efficiently. Using a dedicated Etsy Integration App will give you better control over the transfer process and allow you to customize the data migration to your preferences.

Best of luck with your new Shopify store! If you have any further questions, feel free to ask
