How can I get a refund from an unused trial subscription?

Dear Shopify Support Team,

I am writing to request a refund for the $19 charge that was applied to my Shopify account. I had created a trial Shopify plan a few months ago, but unfortunately, due to critical financial conditions, I had to shut down my business. As a result, I had not used my Shopify account for a few months and forgot to cancel the trial subscription.

I was not aware that the account was still active, and I was surprised to see the $19 charge on my account. I immediately deactivated the store when I realized this, but I would appreciate it if you could refund the charge.

I understand that this may have been an oversight on my part, but I assure you that I have not used my Shopify account since the trial period. You can verify this by checking my account activity.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused, and I would be grateful if you could process the refund as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and prompt attention to this matter.

Before connecting with us, please ensure your shop has been deactivated and your subscription has been canceled. To complete this, you can check out our Deactivating Your Shop documentation as it provides step-by-step instructions.

It outlines however, that you can:

  • From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Plan.
  • Click Deactivate store.
  • Select a reason for the deactivation, and then click Continue.
  • Enter your password, and then click Deactivate now.

Once completed, you can then head to our Support Page where our advisor team will be able to take a closer look into this request.
