To improve your shopify SEO, make sure Google can easily access your website. Keep your store clean and easy to use and improve page speed by compressing images and removbing extra apps you dont need. Write simple and original product titles and description, fix common technical problem and try to get real backlinks and customer reviews, If you keep doing these steps regularly, your website rankings will remove over time.
For Shopify in 2025, SEO wins come from fundamentals done really well.
On-page: Clean URL structure, keyword-focused collection pages, unique product descriptions, optimized titles/meta, proper H1–H3 usage, and internal linking between collections and products.
Technical: Improve Core Web Vitals (light theme, compressed images, limit apps), fix indexing via Google Search Console, submit XML sitemap, remove duplicate content from tags/filters, and ensure canonical URLs are set correctly.
Off-page: Focus on quality backlinks (PR mentions, niche blogs, partnerships), not mass link building.
From experience, optimizing collection pages + site speed usually drives the biggest organic growth on Shopify.
hi. i will share tips for all three categories: on-page, off-page, and technical SEO.
- On page
- add high-volume, low-difficulty, and high-intent keywords to your store’s content (page titles, meta descriptions, image alt text, etc.) and product pages. some good tools that may help you find such keywords include, AHREFS, Semrush, etc.
- keep URL structures clear and concise. add the primary keyword in all URLs, and avoid using random letters and numbers in them, as that can confuse search engines.
- interlink all pages amongst themselves, as it will help ensure that search engines can easily access and crawl all parts of your site.
- Off-page
- focus on getting high-quality backlinks from authoritative websites. when other sites link to your store, search engines perceive your content to be more reliable and trustworthy.
- participate in communities and forums such as the Shopify community, reddit, quora, etc. here you can help others and also try and plug in your products or any other relevant content from your store naturally. this will help position your brand as an expert in your niche, which search engines will reward.
- monitor brand mentions and if you ever find that some website has talked about your store/product/content or brand in general but hasn’t added a link, reach out to them.
- Technical
- ensure that your website’s structure is logical and clear to navigate. for example, home page at the top, then collections, then products, and so on.
- submit your sitemap on search console as that will ensure google’s bots crawl and index your entire website properly.
- set up 301 redirects for all inactive pages to preserve your store’s seo performance and value.
i have tried to answer all your questions such as site structure, indexing issues, etc. for page speed, i would say go with a fast, lightweight shopify theme, and ensure that your website doesn’t have a lot of content/images that make it slow.
hope it helps ![]()
Great question! Here’s a prioritized action plan:
**1. Fix the Basics (Product Pages)**
- Add unique meta titles and descriptions to every product page.
- Ensure your product descriptions are 400+ words with structured sections (Features, Specs, Care).
- Add alt text to all product images.
- Use SEO-friendly URL handles (not random strings).
**2. Build a Content Layer (Blog)**
Product pages alone won’t capture “top of funnel” traffic. Create blog posts that:
- Target informational keywords (e.g., “How to style [your product]”).
- Link back to your product pages (internal linking).
- Include Schema.org markup for rich results.
This is called a “Topic Cluster” strategy—Google loves it.
**3. Technical SEO**
- Compress images for speed.
- Ensure mobile-friendliness.
- Submit your sitemap to Google Search Console.
**4. Backlinks (Long-term)**
Partner with bloggers or get featured in roundups. This takes time but compounds.
